TWENTY6 are excited to share with you an intriguing 'exhibition'
by Franco-English photographer Carl Smith-Thomas.
Carl was born and raised in Paris and graduated from the renowned MJM School of Graphic Design in 2007. Since then, Carl has been assisting the acclaimed fashion photographer Peter Christian Christensen with whom he has shot a plethora of global campaigns for leading European high-street Brands. These photo shoots took place in various countries such as Denmark, South Africa and the US and it was this experience combined with Carl's love of traveling that led him to develop his own portfolio of work. This personal quest and Carl's fascination with different and varying cultures has culminated in compelling and sensitive photographs from around the world incorporating both places and people with whom he has built unique and uninhibited relationships.
'Everglades' is a perfect example of Carl's insight into a specific culture and without sounding blase, it almost works as a premium travel destination guide. I've never experienced the Everglades yet Carl has managed to capture the pure essence of the place and people - it really does make you feel as if you've been there, met the inhabitants (including the alligators!) and the heat and smells are almost tangible. There is a 'vintage' quality to Carl's photographs with a sepia Instagram feel that almost makes you feel as if you're looking at a retro painting. Carl applies this quality and passion to all of his work and TWENTY6 think they've stumbled on a profoundly unique talent.
