Since its inception in 1965, Benetton has always been a leader in sustainable fashion. They have been committed to both ethical and environmental causes throughout their existence as one of the biggest retailers in the world, as seen in their colourful and highly controversial marketing campaigns.
Throughout their massive supply chain, Benetton aims to keep its production as ethically and environmentally responsible as possible. A partnership with Greenpeace’s Detox program aims for zero discharges and to eliminate hazardous chemicals from fashion production. Their code of conduct is based on human rights and environmental protection and is spread across all their suppliers and stakeholders, with the aim of promoting human dignity and transparency. Benetton is also strengthening their support for local communities in Bangladesh, finding lasting solutions for the inherent structural issues of the country’s garment industry. While all of this isn’t new for Benetton, their long-lasting dedication for a greener and more ethical future is definitely worth talking about.
