Bordeaux, a region that is usually known for its excellence in producing wine, was re-discovered by team twenty6 and put into a completely different light. We learned how the city begins to establish a cocktail scene, thanks to the close region of Cognac, the home of Grey Goose Vodka.
Bordeaux is home of the most exquisite wine cellars and bars that host century old spirits one could only imagine the divine taste. Close to the river a young group of avant-garde gentlemen had the idea of opening a cocktail bar as well as restaurant, that only uses the finest ingredients from their backyard garden. Team Twenty6 was greeted with an extraordinary drink, topped with local mushrooms. The sweet yet savoury liquid prepared us for the outstanding meal that followed. Veal, fish, muscles, we had a taste of the truly french dishes, that made us re-think our rather dull British cuisine.
A few cocktails and meals later, we were welcomed at Grey Goose’s wonderful Chateaux, Le Logis, a refurbished manor in the middle of Cognac. Wine yards as far as the eye can reach, no mobile phone connection, and a lot of Vodka was the recipe for a magical stay. Refreshing spritz cocktails accompanied our tour around the estate. Our favourite part was the picturesque swimming pool, continuing Grey Goose’s theme of blue and white. We learned about the home cinema that will be on the grounds very soon, about the kitchen and about the manor’s rule that everybody should feel at home. Vodka tastings and the history of Grey Goose opened our eyes and showed us that this specific spirit is not just something to mix with orange juice at a club, but something that can actually be enjoyed by itself. Grey Goose offers a fantastic range of flavoured Vodka reaching from melon, to pear, as well as an exquisite mix between a white grape cognac.
We were absolutely flabbergasted by the precision and the quality the production of Grey Goose carries and feel that the brand is really much more than just a status symbol in the club scene. Quality, elegance, luxury, outstanding taste make the spirit made of wheat instead of potatoes so very special. Le Logis is a remarkable place that has one big problem, nobody ever wants to leave, even Team Twenty6.
